Hungary: More than HUF 33 bn investments in increasing railway safety until 2017

The Hungarian-Austrian railway operator GYSEV Zrt. has completed the second phase of railway safety modernisation programmme. The HUF 2.2 bn cost of the program was aimed at improving the safety of railway level crossings and the electricity supply systems. More

Stadler Rail acquires Vossloh Rail Vehicles

The Executive Board of Vossloh AG has signed a contract for the sale of its Rail Vehicles business unit, reported as discontinued operations, to Stadler Rail AG, Bussnang, Switzerland. For the purchase of the activities, Stadler will afford a cash payment of €48 million and will, in addition, take over debt liabilities of Vossloh AG against the business unit Rail Vehicles of €124 million. More


Asian cities dominate ranking of world’s biggest and busiest metros

Asian cities dominate the ranking of the world’s biggest and busiest metro systems according to a new report from UITP, the International Association of Public Transport. The report, ‘World Metro Figures,’ is a comprehensive study on the current state of the world’s metro networks and highlights potential future developments. The report shows that in 2014, 156 cities around the world had a metro system in operation, nearly two thirds of which were in Asia and Europe. More


Skanska to modernize railway station in Czech Republic for EUR 37 million

Skanska has signed a contract with the Czech Railway Infrastructure manager SŽDC for the modernization Ceská Lípa railway station in Northern Bohemia. The contract value is CZK 1.0 billion (EUR 37 million). The funds provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and Construction is designed for co-financing by the European Union Cohesion Fund within the Transport Operational Programme. More
