Successful testing brings new electric trains to Maidenhead.(Network Rail)

Network Rail and GWR testing the newly electrified overhead line equipment (OLE) between Hayes & Harlington and Maidenhead using one of the new Class 387 Electrostar trains.

Electrification is critical to the introduction of the Elizabeth line and delivers near immediate benefits to Thames Valley passengers with the introduction of new GWR electric commuter trains between Maidenhead and Paddington next month.

The successful testing is the first time electric trains have run on this 12 mile stretch of Brunel’s Great Western Main Line since its creation in the first half of the nineteenth century.
