On Thursday 14th September Amy will travel to Rotterdam to start the four day event and is very excited and proud to be able to wear her Team GB triathlon kit.

She said:

“I’ve been competing in Triathlons for seven years now. I have always enjoyed swimming from a young age and in 2009 I got my first road bike. I then joined the sports together and ever since it’s been my world. My goal for 2017 was to qualify for the World Championships, and I’m still amazed that I managed to achieve it.”

Amy qualified for Team GB at an event in Redcar in July of this year. She came third in her category which gave her automatic qualification to the Age Group World Triathlon Championships.

At the event Amy will have to swim 750m, bike 20km and run 5km. There will be over 20 nationalities taking part in the competition.

Amy continued:

“I received an official email from Team GB explaining I would be representing my country at the event. I was so excited and then all my official Team GB kit with my name on arrived making it all a reality. I’m going to get to compete with the some of the best people in the world, now that’s something I never thought I’d get to do.”

Amy trains between 10-12 hours a week, that’s twice a day and still finds time to complete all her work commitments.

She went on to say:

“Both DB Cargo UK and Euro Cargo Rail SAS have been very supportive of my Triathlon training and I am thankful to them for allowing me the time to represent Team GB.

“Training is tough. It takes a lot of dedication and commitment, but the rewards are great. I’m just a normal person and I do genuinely believe anyone can do this if they want too.”

Sandra Buchser, Head of HR at DB Cargo UK, said:

“I am very proud of what Amy has achieved so far and it’s an honour to be chosen to represent your country in something you are passionate about.

“As an employer DB Cargo UK encourages people to take part in activities outside of work as that’s what makes them unique and therefore an asset to our business and an inspiration to others.”
