With only 1 week to go, we will be detailing a different event on each day this week.
Massive, National Rail Safety Week Launch Eventbeing held at Manchester Piccadilly. The day will consist of numerous organisations taking over the main concourse to promote rail safety to anyone and everyone who passes through the station giving out goodies, handouts, and safety leaflets as well as safety advice and best practice advice.
Several schools from across the region will be visiting throughout the day for behind the scenes tours with the chance to have a go on the public announcement system and the opportunity to interview key industry people on any rail-related subject they like.
Manchester Metrolink will be there with their tram simulator to allow people to get an insight into what it feels like to be a tram driver round the streets of Manchester. Virgin Trains Sammy the Safety Bear will also be making an appearance at some point as well as lots of other fun, safety-related events going on. This is going to be our biggest launch event to date!
Parts of the day will be beamed live across the country to numerous schools via Learn Live where we will be encouraging questions from school children across the UK via the Learn Live platform, Twitter and Facebook.
Local media coverage has also been organised so if you can’t attend then keep your eyes and ears open across TV and radio to see what’s going on.
