- Awards recognise contribution of companies across the UK to transport in London
- Transport for London hosted its first ever Supplier Awards last year
Transport for London (TfL) has launched its Supplier Awards 2018, which recognise the contribution that a wide range of companies from across the country make to running and improving transport in London.
In order to keep London moving, working and growing, TfL works with a number of different suppliers from across the UK, supporting economic growth both in London and across the country. TfL is now welcoming nominations from these organisations and is asking them to highlight how, by working collaboratively with TfL, they are helping to make our network more innovative, delivering better value for money, while making a difference and improving transport in London.
There are several categories that recognise TfL’s suppliers for their efforts in a range of areas, from increasing opportunities for those underrepresented in the workplace to their work to protect the environment. These include:
- Health, Safety and Environment
o Best Health Initiative
o Best Safety Initiative
o Best Environmental Initiative
- Innovation and Efficiencies
o Award for Innovation
o Award for Efficiencies
- Diversity & Inclusion
o Best Apprenticeship Scheme
o Best scheme for increasing those underrepresented in the workplace
- Best SME
- Supplier of the Year
Last year, there were around eighty submissions and Siemens was recognised as TfL’s Supplier of the Year. The company had proven itself to be an outstanding supplier, working with TfL to support women back into employment and developing the potential of those already in the transport industry. They also developed their operational practices when installing traffic signals to increase efficiency and reduce the impact on customers and have been a key part of the success of delivering 36 trains per hour on the Victoria line.
David Wylie, Chief Procurement Officer at TfL, said:
“We are excited to open up our Supplier Awards again for nominations, following their success last year. It’s important to recognise all of the hard work that our suppliers across the UK put into keeping Londoners and visitors on the move.
“Working together with our supply chain is essential to successfully creating and implementing innovative solutions, delivering better value for money, and improving our customers’ experiences. I urge our suppliers to put themselves forward, so that they can be recognised for their positive impact on London.”
Gordon Wakeford, Managing Director of Siemens Mobility, said:
“We were delighted to win two individual awards at the inaugural Supplier Awards event last year, but then to be named TfL’s Supplier of the Year was a real honour. The award was not only a recognition of the expertise, commitment and professionalism of everyone at Siemens, but also the strength of our collaborative working relationship with Transport for London. We have a long and proud shared history and together have delivered some fantastic projects, so to be recognised for our work in this way really was an incredible accolade.”
