Residents invited to find out more about railway upgrade in East Yorkshire

Network Rail is inviting residents in East Yorkshire to find out more about work to upgrade the railway as part of the Great North Rail Project.

The project will see the signalling system upgraded on the line between Ferriby, Gilberdyke and Saltmarshe, with old signalling technology ‘recontrolled’ from local lineside signal boxes to the state-of-the-art Rail Operating Centre in York. The project will also see improvements to level crossings in the area. Once completed, passengers will benefit from a more modern and reliable railway.

For those wishing to find out more about the work, as well as how they may be affected, Network Rail is holding two public information events. Network Rail workers will be on hand to answer any questions which residents may have.

The events will take place on:

  • Saturday, 27 October between 09:30 and 11:30 at Petuaria Centre Centurion Way, Brough, East Yorkshire, HU15 1AY
  • Saturday, 27 October between 13:30 and 15:30 at Gilberdyke Memorial Hall, Clementhorpe, Road, Gilberdyke, HU15 2UG.

Anyone who would like to find out more about the work but is unable to make the events, can call the Network Rail National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
