Wellingborough residents invited to find out more about railway bridge upgrade.(Network Rail)

Network Rail is inviting residents in Wellingborough to find out more about work to upgrade Irthlingborough Road bridge as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade.

The bridge needs to be demolished and reconstructed to allow a safe distance between overhead line equipment and the structure in anticipation of electrifying the line between Bedford and Kettering.

To allow Network Rail to begin work on the bridge, Irthlingborough Road will be closed from Monday, 15 October. A clearly signposted diversionary route will be in place and pedestrian access will be maintained through the work. The work will take just under six months to complete, with the road reopening on Thursday, 11 April 2019.

Network Rail is holding a public information event for residents wishing to find out more about the work. This will take place on between 15:00 and 19:00 on Thursday, 18 October at Diana’s Gym, 109E Finedon Road, Wellingborough, NN8 4AL

Anyone who is unable to make the event but wishes to find out more about the work can call the Network Rail National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
