The Hungarian railway operator MÁV-START Zrt. and Stadler signed the contract for the supply of a further eight electric, six-part double-decker trains KISS. The new trains are expected to take up the 2021 schedule operation. With this order MÁV-START increases the KISS fleet to 19 trains.With the large volume KISS trains a new chapter begins for the Hungarian State Railways. First double-decker trains in Hungary will be put into operation. The new trains will enter the most frequented suburb lines Budapest-Vác-Szob Budapest-Cegléd-Szolnok used.
MÁV-Start and Stadler have concluded a framework agreement on 40 trains in 2017, which can be accessed within eight years. With today’s agreement and the first call in 2017 over eleven vehicles MÁV has already ordered 19 trains from the available 40th The investment is financed by the Operational Program for Integrated Transport (ITOP) of the European Union.
The 155.88 meters long, 2.8 meters wide and 4.6 meters high trains each consisting of six carriages and are able to receive 600 passengers simultaneously. That is 50 percent more than single-storey multiple units of the same length. In trains, each with four toilets are installed, one of them also for passengers with reduced mobility. In the multi-function areas are four wheelchairs sufficient space, also twelve bicycles or five prams. The new vehicles meet the latest safety standards. They are equipped with the automatic train control systems EVM and ETCS Level 2nd So that the trains can move quickly in Hungary on the modernized distances up to 160 kilometers per hour. The comfort of the passengers used the exceptionally smooth running, the modern passenger information system, advanced air conditioning and free WiFi.
