Stadler wins first order in Turkey for Körfez Ulaştırma seven hybrid locomotives.(Stadler)

Stadler and Turkish freight companies Körfez Ulaştırma have signed a contract for the supply of seven hybrid locomotives EURO DUAL including maintenance for eight years. The locomotives come in rail freight transport in Turkey are used.

Stadler and Körfez Ulaştırma, the logistics subsidiary of the largest Turkish refinery Tüpraş, have signed a contract for the supply of seven Co’Co’ hybrid locomotives EURO DUAL including spare parts and a full-service maintenance agreement for eight years. According to the contract is scheduled for delivery by 2021, the first locomotive.

The first-ever dual-powered locomotives are used in Turkey. Körfez Ulaştırma will use it for freight on routes with high slope, where a high traction force is required – as required in electric mode with 25 kV AC or in diesel-electric operation. A single EURO DUAL as a tractor is sufficient for transporting fuel products up to 2000 tonnes, which will have a positive impact on the operational efficiency of the Turkish railway operator. The EURO DUAL has a power range from 2.8 MW in diesel-electric operation up to 15.6 megawatts in electric operation under catenary. The starting tractive effort is up to 500 kN, thanks to six driven axles and an ultra-modern Adhäsionsregelsystem.

With this contract, the number of sold locomotives of new generation locomotives Co’Co’ rises to 74 pieces.

Körfez Ulaştırma is the first private rail operator in Turkey, has received a license for the transport of goods, since the government has started issuing licenses for the use of their main lines two years ago.
